The benefits of hypnosis.
Through Hypnosis we can learn to voluntarily control the focus of our attention. Most commonly, this is associated with managing emotional arousal and with becoming calm and relaxed. And when we can manage our emotions skilfully in this way, we develop the power of self control.
This is seen most obviously in using hypnosis to manage anger and impulses. But the same is true for other emotions and so in addition, hypnosis is commonly used to treat anxiety, panic, phobias, traumas and other emotional or stress related conditions.
But that's not all. Because the patterns of our minds operate as instincts and can narrowly focus our attention. But because we can control the focus of our attention voluntarily using hypnosis, we have the ability to control and even to change these instincts. So hypnosis can be used to resolve addictions, obsessions, compulsions, nervous ticks (twitching, stammering etc.), eating disorders and cravings.
It is important though to realise that our bodies are governed by brain activity intimately associated with these same patterns. And this opens the possibility of using hypnosis to cure physical conditions like allergies, migraines and headaches, IBS and skin conditions. In addition hypnosis can speed up the process of healing and is commonly used to control pain.
But finaly, as these patterns form our instincts and expectations, hypnosis can be used to improve existing skills, to learn new skills, to improve our motivation, develop our self esteem and to learn more confidence.
